Sandoval-Partners-NLEICICERO – State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-11) met with Elba Aranda-Suh, Executive Director of National Latino Education Institute (NLEI) to strategize on workforce development policy in Illinois.

“The National Latino Education Institute forges a path for Latino success by training and educating individuals,” said Sen. Sandoval. “Workforce development and innovative job training initiatives are essential to putting America back to work.”

National Latino Education Institute exists to enhance the quality of life for Latinos through educational, vocational and employment services and through advocacy, thus enabling the achievement of economic independence.

Sandoval-WINGSState Senator Martin Sandoval (D-11) recently welcomed Rebecca Darr, Women In Need Growing Stronger (WINGS) CEO, in front of the old site of the 8th district police station at 3515 W. 63rd St.

The building has been standing vacant for about a decade, since the 8th District headquarters moved to a new building nearly across the street.

The police station will be converted into the first domestic violence shelter in the City of Chicago in 10 years.

“Investments in the community will help families get back on their feet,” said Sen. Sandoval.

WINGS is a 501(c)(3) that helps homeless and abused women and children by offering integrated services to meet their needs for shelter, education, guidance and support. They provide safe, secure living environments through transitional housing and emergency shelter, in residential neighborhoods that allow women to go to school, work, and achieve financial and emotional independence.
